I am a writer. I AM a writer. I am A writer. I am a WRITER. i am a writer.

It’s the last version, definitely the last version; i am a writer, with my ego, fears and hopes binding the words together. When I say, “i am a writer” I put my whole self out there to be judged. Words spill onto the white paper from a place deep within me. I struggle to create a written work that answers the, “So what?” I want to create a piece that matters and has deeper meaning. I want to make a difference.

While I am a writer, I am also an artist. My medium is Mixed Media Collage. I take bits of ephemera, things from lives past and present and meld them together to create a whole. The creative process when I write is the same as the process I use in creating a collage. I start with an idea and bits and pieces, either collage elements or words and stories. Taking into consideration balance and symmetry, I carefully place the items where they fit best and the piece starts to come together.

Feeding the right side of the brain is necessary for balance. My need to write is not only to tell a story. Telling the tale creatively and framing the story within an inspired construction are just as important as the story itself.
